April 2008/K/ celebrates 5 years |
Yes, we've been around for five years already. Just thought I'd say that. |
November 2006/K/ partners with Apogee |
/K/ has entered into a partnership with Apogee Software, Inc., with a view to developing future products together. No details of the proposed joint products are yet being released, but one immediate result of the partnership is that /k/ will sell Apogee's Aphelion range of products in Europe. Apogee is a leading supplier of J9-based JRE and JDE products for the embedded market, and the partnership means that /k/ is now able to offer these products alongside of its own open-source offerings. |
September 2006Mika goes open source |
/k/ has decided to make Mika a fully open-source product, at least as far as the core VM and APIs are concerned. As of today, /k/'s modifications to the original Wonka source are covered by a BSD license ('modified' BSD if you're still living in the last century). There's still a lot of work to do in terms of setting up a public source repository, changing copyright statements, etc., so if you can't wait to get you hands on the source please write to us at k-info@kiffer.be. Press announcement: http://linuxdevices.com/news/NS4030458859.html. |
August 2006/k/ joins DSP Valley |
/k/ has been accepted as a full member of DSP Valley, a network of companies and research organisations active in the development of micro-electronics and embedded software. Membership of DSP Valley will enable /k/ to develop further links with other high-technology companies in the Flanders/Brabant area ("Louvain-Eindhoven axis"). |
April 2006/k/ celebrates 3rd anniversary |
/k/ was founded in April 2003. Now three years later we have customers in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, and many more partners worldwide. Mika is being used in projects for building management, domotica, and industrial control, and meanwhile the Wonka open-source project continues to flourish. A big thankyou to all our customers and partners. |
February 2006Gerrit Ruelens joins /k/ |
Gerrit Ruelens has joined /k/ Embedded Java Solutions as Senior Software Engineer. Gerrit was a member of the original Wonka development team at Acunia, and will help /k/ develop and support the Wonka VM and /k/'s derived product Mika, as well as consulting for /k/'s customers. |
